Operation Eastwind

This year's Operation Eastwind hosted by Vortex Airlines and Westwind Airlines will take place from next Monday the 6th and on to the 26th of Feburary. The event will stretch over 3 locations (USA, Europe and Turkey). The first week will be spent flying cargo around the US to the first hub Boston, that weekend we will fly the cargo to the Vortex hub in Dublin. We will then fly cargo from Europe to Dublin. That weekend we will fly to Turkey and then finally the last week will be spent sending the cargo around Eastern Turkey. A few congratulations are in order today. Firstly I'd like to introduce our new latest additions to the management team! Ivo Kneepkens has joined us at Operations Manager and will be responsible for maintaining the maintenece of our fleet, the Fractional Ownership program and our Once-Off Charter System. He can be contacted at ops@vortexvirtual.com. Note this email address is not active yet but hopefully will be shortly. The second addition to our management team is Jay Collie! Jay has taken up the position of Pilot Liason Officer here at Vortex and will be responsible for all new hires and dealing with pilot problems and queries. He can be contacted at @vortexvirtual.com. Thanks to all who applied, there were loads of great applicants and deciding on suitable candidates was a tough process! We hope you all will continue to fly with Vortex and enjoy the experience!

Finally I would like to congratulate all the recipients of the new 50, 100, 250 and 500 hour awards! Graham Dawson was the only non-Manager to pick up the 500 hour award so a huge congrats to you Graham! Sam Rosko and Matt Halfpenny picked up the 250 hour award so congrats to you guys as well! Congrats to Steve Martin, Brent Brazeel, Ivo Kneepkens, James Denkhoff and Ed Lee who picked up the 100 hour award and finally to Scott Cote, Colin Biedenkapp, Austin Steenport and S Roger Williams who picked up the 50 hour awards! Congrats to you all and thanks for all your time given to the airline over the past 9 months.

VTX831 Miami, FL (KMIA) - Punta Cana, Puerto Rico (MDPC) A319-136 (N541VT) - Daily

All our E170s, E190s, A340-600s, A380-800s, B737-300s and our lone MD-88 have been retired, sold or scrapped.

Cargo Division

We have increased our fleet of 747-8Fs to 5, 727-200Fs to 22 and our B1900Cs to 10.

No new services have been added.

All our 747-200Fs, 737-300Fs, and ATR42-200Fs have been retired, sold or scrapped.

VTX789 Washington Ronald Reagan,DC (KDCA) - Miami,FL (KMIA) 737-7VX (N125VT) - Daily

VTX814 Miami,FL (KMIA) - Sao Paulo Guarlhous,Brazil (SBGR) A340-236 (N703VT) - 3 flights per week

VTX815 Sao Paulo Guarlhous,Brazil (SBGR) - Miami,FL (KMIA) A340-236 (N703VT) - 3 flights per week

There has also be an operational upgrade of VTX93,94,95,96 (KMIA-KLAX-PHNL). This service has been increased to a Daily service.

All EMB170s, EMB190s and A340-600s have now been retired. They have been replaced as follows:

EMB190-B737-700

A340-600-B777-200LR, A340-200, B767-300ER

Further retirements will be made in the next two weeks but no services will be directly effected and all scheduled services will run as scheduled.
